Careers in the Broiler Industry:
There are millions of broilers in Australia. In fact 650 million chickens are raised in Australia each year. What are broilers though? Broilers are a breed of chickens that are bred to produce meat. Although we breed 650 million chickens a year, it is expected that we lose at least 26 million chickens before the get killed to eat because of trauma or diseases they may catch. In order for chickens to be slaughtered they need to be a certain age. This age is usually 7 weeks old. Broilers are usually killed for people to eat them. But it’s not just humans that eat them, animals such as dogs and cats eat them too. To breed a broiler and then taking it to a shop there is a big process which many employees are involved in such as farmers when they help grow the chickens, then there’s also your truck drivers who drive the chickens from the farm to the factory, factory workers that process the chicken and finally there’s your restaurant employees which deliver the chicken as food such as KFC chicken.

Careers in the Duck Industry
In the Duck Industry, many jobs and careers are supplied. Some of these jobs are very important as they are major components to the success of the company and production. To start with the farmer or breeder of the ducks is the major supplier of the production. Transporters are needed to transport the birds to and from the farm to factory. Abattoirs also known as slaughters will be required to slaughter the animals. Once slaughtered the animal will be again transported to an area in the factory for the making of the food in here more staff will be in charge of maintaining machines. If the machines were to break down an engineer would have to be called onto the site to fix the machine. Once the food is processed it will be transported to either a wholesaler or supermarket were other jobs are required.

Careers in the Broiler Chicken Industry
The broiler chicken industry is made up of many systems and is constantly changing creating more jobs and opening new career paths. The jobs available range from train or truck driver to farmhand to manager and are all vital to the industry. Truck drivers for example transport chicks to farms, meat to stores and factories, feed to farms, and so on. Without them the whole industry would grind to a halt leading to a shortage of chicken meat around the country. All of these jobs have different requirements so it is easy to get a job if a person knows what they’re looking for. Broiler farms are usually located within close proximity of cities tomake transportation cheaper but this also provides many opportunities for people living nearby (ruralskillsaustralia, 2014). Most careers in the industry start with a job as a farmhand or machine operator but from there a person can become anything from a manager to a vet (poultryhub, 2018). There is a labour shortage in the industry so it isn’t operating at peak efficiencyhowever this alsomakes many jobs available (newfood, 2018).
